Update on kde4 for windows

There was a lot of trouble yesterday. I made a mistake and therefore the apps were crashing on startup because of missing msvc debug runtime libs. I've now added a new package 'msvc8-runtime-msvc' to address this issue.
And I've also uploaded a new version of the installer (0.8.0-2) to hopefully fix crashes on startup. There's also a version which is not packed with upx - maybe upx is the problem here...

I've also added some new questions to my last blog entry. If you still have problems, plz ask at #kde-windows or our mailing list. I'm now doing some geocaching so I can fix the installer dep problem this evening :)

Still the same issue here...

Both packed and not packed versions of 0.8 give the "application is incorrect" error on my XP here.

I get "application configuration is incorrect". Note: I use original win xp with all updates available (cd install already includes sp2).

Solved the problem for me.

Installed MSVC 2008 beta2 and now it works.

Ok, the new executable (also 0.8.0, but recompiled) does not work on my clean vmware machine.
I really had one module compiled against shared msvc runtime but dependency walker did not tell me this... :(

Ok, installed :)
But how can I start KDE environment now? Or just an kde app?

I don't have dbus-1d.dll :(

please, use 7z (7-zip.org) instead of tar.bz2

I won't use 7zip as it's not platform independent (not really) and has a crappy api. I already tried it (and we've optional 7z unpack support)

I just tried KDE 4.2 on windows (actually my Girlfriend's computer - I am trying to slowly convert her to Linux...) and I wonder if there is a way to integrate the start-menu launchers in the KDE menu? This would be pretty neat because then I could make Plasma auto-start and the conversion process begins ;)

I also did not see a package for additional plasmoids given in the KDE-installer, but perhaps I just did not look good enough...

Cheers!
